A TWISTING SEQUENCE FOR SUMMER

Twists are the integrating poses of yoga — they wring out what has accumulated and create space for what is new. In a season of expansion, a twisting sequence helps the body and nervous system process and integrate.

A simple summer twisting sequence:

Begin in Tadasana (Mountain Pose) — stand tall, feet together, arms at your sides. Take three full breaths, feeling the ground beneath you.

Move into Parivrtta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle) — a standing twist that opens the chest, strengthens the legs, and challenges balance. Use a block under the lower hand if needed.

Finish with Bharadvajasana (Seated Twist) — sit on the floor or a chair, and twist gently from the lower abdomen, following the spine upward.

Hold each pose for 5–8 breaths. Move slowly, with attention. Let the twists be an act of gratitude for the body that carries you.

With gratitude,
