Off the Mat — Reflection

Whether you joined me for an online class, in-person session, or on a retreat this year, I've seen remarkable growth and transformation in each of you. The courage to show up for yourself, the willingness to explore discomfort and our limits, and the trust in the process is such an inspiration. Iyengar Yoga teaches us that the asana is not just a posture but a pathway. Through alignment of the body, we align the mind and spirit, cultivating awareness with steadiness and ease (sthira sukham asanam). In practice, sthira is the fire within us. It's the part of ourselves that shows up when we face discomfort—whether physical, mental, or emotional. It's the steadiness we build when we learn to be fully present, even when things feel challenging. Sukha, on the other hand, is where we let go. It's the spaciousness we experience when we stop striving and allow ourselves to simply be. Balance arises when everything feels aligned—when the body is stable, the mind is calm, and prana flows freely through us. Yoga is not about bending into shapes; it's about unfolding into yourself, and I am honored to be part of that journey with you.

At-Home Wellbeing — Practice / Recipe

Light a candle or palo santo, sit quietly with a journal, take a few deep breaths before you begin, and let your words flow freely. Where are you cultivating strength and stability? Where do you feel most grounded? Where can you let go and create space for softness and joy? How can you harmonize these qualities in your life as we enter the New Year?
